Very recently, we received a requirement in which we have to forward the IP Camera stream to a client. It's basically a monitoring application. Let say we have 5 IP camera's and a centralized client machine where we have to throw the streams from all 5 IP cameras. I was wondering how we can use Red5 flash server in this scenario.
I have really no idea of IP Camera. I went through Wikipedia to read more about IP Camera.
I also checked the Red5 mailing list and found that something similar to this has already been discussed but nothing is implemented yet. IP Camera produces JPEG's. I am not sure that re-encoding it to flash video will make sense. ffmpeg and other options are there as per discussion. Guys need your suggestion on this implementation. Meanwhile I will explore the possibilities of achieving this solution and will update you.

I am doing the same thing, I know how to do it too..
What about the multi purpose VideoLAN client, any ways to get the IP cams connected? With the progress of this project these days it is promising to bridge the gap between VLC and Red5 shortly...
Hi hussain,
If you are doing the same thing, can you share little more information about your implementation here. It will sure help to open source community.
Thanks,
Sunil
Hi Marksch,
What you are saying is correct. There is a need to bridge the gap between Red5 and VLC. In these kind of projects, VLC is a good choice. Not much idea about connecting these IP cams. I found many people discussing about IP camera solutions on videoLan forums.
Thanks for your comment.

Hi all,
I'm ahmed, I'm beginner on Red5, If any one could help me, I will be very pleased.
My email : ahmbelg@yahoo.fr
you can do this, on mac osx quite easily, it is described here;
http://www.livepuntobanco.com/ip-camera-fms-flash-video-howto/
you can modify a version of Macam (for mac) to do the job and make the IP network camera a virtual camera driver so that flash see's it as a usb webcam on the host system and you can then broadcast to FMS, Wowsa, Red5 or any flash compatible system as normal.
Hi etienne,
Thanks for leaving your comment here. I would check the link.
Thanks Again,
Sunil
any idea if I can stream pictures without any converter, just with red5 ?
Hi Crirus,
I am not sure what you want actually. But You can always do dynamic image loading in Flash. Images can reside in the any web server including Red5.

Sunil
Hi,
I'm trying to search for a good solution for the next problem:
I want to connect multiple cameras connect to a media server (which I don't know yet) and record a compilation of the streams while they are streaming. Like 10 seconds of stream 1 follow by 20 of stream 2.
It also has to connect to the cameras directly so no client who uses a webcam, but the server is directly to de cam (IP or web, which is the better choice?).
Since I'm new to streaming media, I was wondering if somebody could help me with this.
